25 Random Things About Me, Continued
22) While working as a high school counselor, I took a group of students to a career fair, and sat in with some of them during a session on nursing. I had been a school counselor for 5 years at that point, and had only finally been able to put my finger on what I was dissatisfied; I felt under constant pressure to fix things that couldn't be fixed. Nursing sounded so much more concrete, so I jumped ship and went to nursing school, while working full time as an EMT. It was a good move. Now I'm a Flight Nurse, and I get to experience some of the flying thrill that I was after when I wanted to be a Top Gun (see #9), I got over my fear of needles (see #4), and I still get to do work that really matters to people and makes a difference.
