I guess I'm a bit behind the curve on this whole New Year's Resolutions thing. I'm not too keen on making one-line promises to myself; they often seem too black & white, too static, too inflexible. So I usually just don't make them.

But this year, a few ideas have taken shape, so I think I'm going to commit to them, and put them down in words.

So here are my intentions for 2009:

Be more open to people. Be willing to experience them, whoever they may be and however they move through my life this year, whether casual acquaintances, close friends, or lovers. Allow them to experience me. Be more open.

Say yes to more dates. Be open to possibilities.

Say no to future dates that I don't really want to go on. Say it kindly, but say no.

Play more with toy cameras. Re-explore the world of film. See things in new ways. Play with visions and alternate visions and unimagined visions. Play.

Be careful with words. Avoid defining myself or others with words that can limit us. Use words to uplift, love, and embrace.

Believe that every day of the future holds the potential to bring wonders unimagined, as well as those that I wish to call to me or seek after. Believe in the possibilities. Be open.

That's a good, healthy, honest set of intentions for the coming year. I hope you find that they guide you in ways that prove beneficial.
