It's a beautiful autumn day in Seattle: crisp, clear, sunny, dry. The leaves are turning yellow and orange and red, and falling to the ground in a sea of heartwarming color. Today the piles of leaves on the ground are dry and light; I kicked through them happily this morning while watching my dog run through them in the park, she and I both romping for joy for the fun of it. It's rare to be able to jump into piles of leaves in Seattle; most of the time it's too wet, and the leaf piles are slimy and slippery. Not today. Today they scatter at my feet as I wade through them.
Do you ever have one of those moments when you pause to appreciate the beauty around you, when you think of your friends and loved ones and smile, when everything feels just right and life is beautiful, and you are overcome with gratitude for just being alive? That's my morning.
Life is so good!

I almost always have that feeling when Nick and I are flying along a smooth, curvy road on the motorcycles. Probably sounds shallow, but it always gives me that 'I can't believe this is my life' feeling.
