For today's Photo Friday: Childhood, a view of an interesting social phenomenon regarding childhood. If you've spent any time around performing kids lately, you'll recognize it right away. It's the ritual of watching your child perform through the LCD of a video camera. You can generally find a large sum of moms and dads watching the show this way, each of them zoomed in on a different kid.

And the experience, instead of being the direct connection between parents and kids, becomes mediated through a camera. Which is OK if you are a professional cameraperson, but what of the sheer enjoyment of the moment?
