So I just spent half an hour deleting a bunch of "comments" left by someone who just would write "Nice Site" and leave a link with their name. The link, of course, went to some unsavory stuff hosted in Russia that I didn't really want linked from my organic, home-grown, family-values-approved blog. Of course, the author was clever, in that the first comment they left looked harmless, and it took me a couple of days to look more closely at the code, and by that time they'd spammed my site with around 20 such "comments".
Needless to say those comments are gone now, and thanks to Movable Type, the IP address is now banned. That's the first time I've had to ban anyone.
And thanks to my techie boyfriend, I've now been properly introduced to the dark side of computer geek revenge. *Evil Grin*

Dang, the IP banning didn't do the trick...as they were back today with a bunch more spams from the same IP address. Any ideas how to stop this?

Try .htaccess, a small script you can place at the head of your page. It'll block them from you. I use it for google, and the other engines.
Email me if you want the script! Good luck!

Dawn, go to jay allen's site, and get the MT-blacklist plugin.

It is fresh, just out the oven.
