After 2 months of no internet access except by cell phone and at cafes, we are finally on line at home! Of course, I spent 90 minutes on the phone this afternoon with Comcast, and Michael spent 90 minutes more this evening before we actually got it to work. So far, though, only the Mac is online; righ now Michael is still messing with the Windows Machines trying to get them on.
So if it took us two geeks 3 hours to make our high-speed internet work, how in the heck do normal people ever get it to work?

It takes normal people a fatty checkbook and waiting until noon for a 9 a.m. appointment for the Comcast guy or gal to show up, spend 5 minutes hooking the system up, flipping a switch and then billing you $80 for 'installation'.
I like the pic by the way ... we've got a running joke in our newsroom where people start yelling at the top of their lungs everytime we get a scanner call that there's someone walking around downtown with "no pants". It happens pretty often here in SpoKompton.
