Photo Friday: Mechanism. The water at Bagby Hot Springs exists the ground and travels to the tubs via an elaborate system of wooden channels, levers, and switches.
So Michael and I have decided to shack up (that's right, move in together, live in sin, cohabitate...). Right before we left for Oregon Country Fair, we found the perfect house and felt reasonably confident that it would be ours on August 1st. The day we got home from Fair, we got an email from the owners saying they had found "the perfect tenents"...and they were not us. So we have spent the last two weeks desperately trying to find an acceptable place to live. So far we've come up blank, which means that by next thursday we'll probably be cramming everything we own into a storage locker and living in my mom's RV.
So here's what were looking for. If you know of anything for rent that meets most of these criteria, please email me and let me know! Otherwise, if you live in Seattle, I threaten that we may be begging to use your shower in a week or so.
The ideal house:
1) Location: Capitol Hill within walking distance of Broadway, or Fremont (we're greatly expanding this criteria, though, given impending homelessness).
2) Size: Big enough for 2 adults and 2 kids, or big enough for 3 adults and 2 kids (my sister would be the 3rd adult).
3) Cost: Under $1400 if it's smaller (2-3 rooms), or up to $2000 if it's bigger (4+ rooms).
4) Style (some combination of these things): Older, hardwood floors, gas heat & stove, dishwasher, cool/funky, brightly lit, not so nice that we can't live there without fear of hurting it (think kids, dog, guests...), storage, parking....
5) Small yard: Have big dog, so must have a yard. On the other hand, we do not want to garden or do landscaping or even mow a big lawn.
So, if you know of a house for rent that meets at least the majority of the criteria, please pass the info my way. You will be rewarded with...whatever reward I can offer that motivates you :-)

I suppose you know this, but craigslist.com sometimes has some good unknown stuff.

Wow... Congratulations. Too bad it isn't under better circumstances...
