Colors of the Fair, Nikon 990

Whew, after 11 days at the Oregon Country Fair , I'm home, frazzled, but happy. The Fair turned out to be far more magical and beautiful than I'd imagined, and I'm glad I got to participate in it and make it part of my life. It was also fun to share it with Michael, Kalea, and Keegan. All the work we put into the fair as volunteers before the fair opened paid off, as we were totally free to just play during the actual event.

So what is the Oregon Country Fair? Well, I'd say it's part renaissance faire, part folk festival, part costume ball, part camping party, part music festival, part temporary hippie commune. It's a dose of magic, mystery, and fun. It's the hippie smaller and much older distant cousin of Burning Man (although the old-time Country Fair non-Burner hippies would cringe at that description). It's a magical kingdom with a soft belly and a hard crust. It's hard to describe, but while there are things about the organization that I really don't like, the end result is pure magic, and it's another place I'll call home.

I took many, many pictures, including 2 or 3 rolls on the Lomo, a roll on the Holga, and around 250 digital shots, so expect to see a lot of them in the upcoming days, especially after the film gets back from processing. I'm sure the photos will say more than my words can...

I wonder why Oregon Country Fair overlaps time-wise with Rainbow Gathering?

The rainbow peaks on the 4th of July; OCF is the 2nd weekend in July. A lot of (d)rainbows used to come to fair after the gathering, but this has decreased now that OCF requires everyone on the property to have a ticket.

During the Oregon Country Fair 2003, my father, a veteran, lost a very sentimental leather vest with veteran pins and patches on it. I would like to be able to give it to him for his birthday.

I was hoping it would be possible to make a quick announcement or inquiry during the next meeting, put it in the lost and found ad section of your vendor and general circulation paper, and/or add this info to a part of the internet sight, to see if any one had reported finding this vest.

If so, could you email me the information of the contact people at BrahminH@PeoplePC.com or call 503-763-9274. Thank you for your cooperation and help.
