SeaCompression was a success! Over 750 people attended, most of them dressed in their Playa best (check out my new purple vinyl & fur coat!), and the event made money for the Black Rock Arts Foundation. There were art cars, domes, a fashion show, yummy paella, fire performances, and a few art installations. The Drowning World theme proved appropriate, as it did rain on and off throughout the day and night, but that didn't seem to damped spirits or curb the festivities.
Although SeaCompression was not as big as San Francisco's Decompression, it was nice to meet a lot of great local burners, make new friends, and get a feel for the local scene. And while San Francisco may have had more art and more people, Seattle had more FIRE!
I got roped into being one of the medical personnel on duty for most of the event, but being a Ranger in Seattle turned out to be easier and more rewarding than Rangering on the Playa.
As for photos, I do solemnly promise that photos from both Decompression and SeaCompression will be up later this week. Recent technological improvements make it so.
